Discover a Future in Building and Construction

The Better Linkages Project is an initiative administered by the ACT Government under the National Partnership Agreement on Skills Reform. It aims to improve the relationship, or ‘linkages’ between Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and Job Search Agencies (JSAs), leading to improved training and employment outcomes for job seekers in Canberra and the ACT.

The Project focuses on the non-traditional areas of the building and construction industry – high risk licensing and general construction/ trade assistants; and also incorporates a training component for a number of unemployed jobseekers in the Canberra Region.

The project has a wide range of support from local industry stakeholders such as the Construction Industry Training Council (CITC), Construction Charitable Works (CCW), OzHelp, Bricklayer Training Australia, Creative Safety Initiatives, as well as from Government and local Job Search Agencies.

The Futures In Construction website is a tool to help jobseekers who are thinking about working in the building and construction industry. In addition to accurate and relevant job descriptions, job-seekers will find information about the kinds of jobs available in Canberra as well as the skills, qualifications and licences needed to undertake these occupations. A link to the relevant RTO along with their contact details is also provided.
