About Us
Building a skilled workforce for the future
As the principal Industry Training Council for the building and construction industry in the ACT and region, the CITC serves as the peak advisory body for training and professional development.
We are dedicated to fostering a professional and skilled construction industry through continuous improvement in training and development. We strive to meet the evolving needs of the industry by providing relevant advice on high-quality training programs, facilitating knowledge exchange, and advocating for best practices in vocational education and training (VET).
We are registered with and regulated by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Vale Nick Tsotsos
Nick joined the CITC in 2018 after many years in the construction industry as a plaster. He brought deep knowledge of the trade and a genuine commitment to supporting people entering the industry. His presence in the office was warm and steady. Many staff, trainers, contractors, and employers valued the way he approached every task with care.
Nick had a strong focus on helping high school and college students understand what a career in construction could offer. He worked closely with schools to arrange work experience placements and often took extra time to mentor young people. He shared his own story, offered guidance, and helped students gain the confidence to take their first steps into the industry.
Each year Nick played a key role in the CITC yearly Outstanding Graduating Apprentice and Encouragement Awards. It was his favourite day on the CITC calendar. He took great pride in seeing apprentices recognised for their effort and growth. His contribution to these events, and to the broader work of the CITC, leaves a lasting impact. Nick will be missed by all of us.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The CITC is governed by an executive committee that is formally elected every two years by its Council Members. The Executive Committee meets every two months, and the Full Council meets three times a year to discuss training and professional development activities and issues.
Our Council members represent unions, individual construction companies, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), and Government.
